Virtual CBT Therapy

Virtual Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a talking therapy that can help you manage your problems by changing the ways in which you think and behave. The treatment is the same as in our CBT offering but completed virtually through telephone, video or instant messaging. Virtual CBT Therapy falls into Step Three Care in the IPRS Health stepped care model.

IPRS Health Virtual CBT is a telephone and online based clinical technique developed on evidence-based principles to provide people with effective and reliable clinical guidance and web-based support materials to assist their recovery. This allows patients to receive the appropriate treatment quickly in the comfort of their own environment when convenient for them, without the need to visit a therapist.

How can CBT help?

CBT can help patients who have moderate to medium levels of mental health distress and can help people cope with, amongst more:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Bipolar Disorder
  • Eating disorders – such as anorexia and bulimia
  • Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)
  • Panic disorder
  • Phobias
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

What to expect from CBT

CBT helps patients to deal with problems in a positive way by breaking them down into smaller, achievable parts. Your therapist will help you learn how to turn negative patterns into something positive to improve you way you feel.

It is fully evidence-based and is based on the concept that your thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and actions are interconnected and that negative thoughts and feelings can trap you in a vicious cycle.

How IPRS Health Virtual CBT works?

Following a Mental Health Assessment with a CBT Therapist, if the patient's condition allows them to be treated virtually their first session is booked in and they are sent a link to download the IPRS Health app through which they are able to contact their CBT therapist. The treatment works the exact same way as with face-to-face CBT Treatment with the patient having regular sessions with their therapist completed through either:

  • Telephone Call
  • Video Call
  • Text Therapy

The patient is provided with all the necessary tools to aid their recovery as they would if they were vising a therapist and they are able to get in touch with their therapist at any time using the IPRS Health app Instant Messaging function. The patient can even report back PHQ-9 and GAD-7 results back to their therapist by completing a quick questionnaire within the app to allow the therapist to monitor their condition.
