Virtual Counselling

Virtual Counselling is a talking therapy that involves a BACP counsellor listening to you and helping you find ways to deal with your emotional issues. The treatment is the same as in our Counselling offering but completed virtually through telephone, video or instant messaging. Virtual Counselling falls into Step Two Care in the IPRS Health stepped care model.

Patients with mild to moderate levels of mental health distress are able to access our Virtual Counselling service through the IPRS Health app, removing barriers for patients who do not feel comfortable attending face to face treatment.

IPRS Health Virtual Counselling is a telephone and online-based clinical technique developed on evidence-based principles to provide people with effective and reliable clinical guidance and web-based support materials to assist their recovery. This allows patients to receive the appropriate treatment quickly in the comfort of their own environment when convenient for them, without the need to visit a counsellor.

How can counselling help?

Counselling can help patients who have mild to moderate levels of mental health distress and can help people cope with, amongst more:

  • Bereavement
  • Relationship Difficulties
  • Difficult life events and adjustment

What to expect from Virtual Counselling?

Patient’s will be encouraged to talk about their feelings and emotions with a BACP accredited Counsellor, who will listen and support without judging or criticising.

The Counsellor can help you patients gain a better understanding of their feelings and thoughts and help them find you’re their own solutions to problems. They won't typically give advice or tell people what they should do.

How it works?

Following a Mental Health Assessment with a CBT Therapist or PWP, if the patient requires Counselling and would like to be treated virtually, their first counselling session is booked in at a convenient time for them.

The treatment works the exact same way as with face-to-face Counselling with the patient having regular sessions with their Counsellor completed through either:

  • Telephone Call
  • Video Call
  • Text Therapy
