Manual Handling is often an essential training part of the workplace but the evidence for its effectiveness is rather poor. Manual Handling Plus is driven by the latest evidence from the world of health and safety, biomechanics, physiotherapy and psychology.
The course has been shaped by our senior clinician who is currently undertaking his PhD in occupational lower back pain specifically looking into Manual Handling, along with two other senior clinicians within the business with over 25 years’ experience.
The programme is compliant with all health and safety standards including the HSE this programme is delivered through group debate and discussion, presentations and practical work. It is broken down into the following sections:
The course can be delivered face to face over 2 hours, half a day or a full day. The course can be designed to your companies needs and will always include a pre-course site visit so the trainer can understand the needs of your employees and their job demands fully before delivery.
IPRS Health offers ‘mini’ musculoskeletal assessment or “Body MOT” days. These are held on an arranged day, often in conjunction with a Wellbeing event.
IPRS Health can deliver a proven 7-week Return To Work focused restoration programme for those on long term absence or sickness. This biopsychosocial ‘hands off programme’ allows the employee to understand their pain while focusing on how functional impairment can be overcome aiding them back into work.

Pre-employment functional screening matches the capabilities of the candidate with the physical requirements of a particular role. This is used to ensure the potential employee has sufficient safe functional capabilities to meet the demands of the role in a safe manner and not pose an injury risk to themselves or colleagues surrounding them.
