Office Pain Prevention

Manual Handling is an essential training part within the workplace, yet the evidence for its effectiveness is rather poor. Therefore, IPRS Health have introduced Manual Handling Plus as it is driven by the latest evidence from the world of health and safety, biomechanics, physiotherapy and psychology.

The Manual Handling Plus course has been moulded and shaped by one of our senior clinicians. He is currently undergoing his PhD in occupational lower back pain, and specifically focusing in on Manual Handling. Alongside him, we have two other senior clinicians within the business with over 25 years’ experience contributing their efforts to the Manual Handling Plus course. It is also key to note that the Manual Handling Plus programme is compliant with all health and safety standards, including the health and safety executive (HSE).

The programme is delivered through group debate and discussion, presentations and practical work. It is broken down into the following sections:

  • Load Management
  • Legislation
  • Risk Assessment and Task Planning
  • Graded Exposure
  • Individual Capacity
  • Spine Health
  • Lifting Advise
  • Push Pull Advise
  • Movement Variability
  • Pain education
  • Graded Exposure
  • Lower back pain and anatomy
  • Practical Problem Solving
  • General MSK Health Advice
  • Practical Application

The course can be delivered face to face over 2 hours, half a day or a full day. It can be bespoke and crafted to your companies needs and will always include a pre-course site visit. This is so the trainer can completely understand the needs of your employees, and their job demands before delivery.
